Laser cutting deer from cowhide

The Atelier Damböck had commissioned us to produce stags from genuine cowhide. The order was for 600 pieces (see photos to browse through). As it is not possible to cut out this delicate and flexible material with our milling machine, our laser helped us to complete this high-precision task. 

Protective film front and rear

To prevent damage to the expensive leather, we covered the individual leather sections at the front and back with white protective film. This ensured that the leather would continue to shine brown and have clean edges after the film was removed. We made sure that we positioned the stags so that as little leather as possible was wasted (see photos). 

Laser-cut leather deer to put up

When setting up the leather deer, the designers used a little trick: a clip-on tab on the underside was used to make the little animals stand upright. A creative, unusual idea that was also an absolute novelty for us. The job was great fun.
